Poker - How to Play Poker
Poker is any card game in which players wager on which hand is the best. There are four basic hands in poker: the Aces, Queens, Kings, and Jack. These hands have different rankings in poker, with Ace being the highest-ranking. The Ace is the highest ranking hand in poker. The lowest ranking hand in poker is called the Jack.
Poker hands consist mainly of the four suits - clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. In a seven-card Stud Poker game, the main hand may be either the Ace, the Queen, the King or The Jack. There are three types other poker hands available: draw hands (full house), straight flush and full house. The main poker hands consist of the Ace, Queen and King as well as the seven card Stud Poker.
Stud poker is a type of poker played in the seven-card stud. Stud poker involves a player placing a wager that reduces to a set amount, called the "base". The cards that come out the top of the table are called the "studs" once the base is touched. Once the studs are dealt, the bets in the pot to increase by one for each stud on the table. The player can either call (buy), or fold (quit). A seven-card stud poker game allows the player to raise only if there are seven studs at the table.
When the player with the best hand finishes, the pot increases. If the player with the second best hand finishes, the same thing happens. The dealer calls after the third and fourth consecutive bets in succession. After that, another bet is placed on the table. The player with the best hand has the option to call (quit) and raise (making him a winner). If he decides to raise, then the pot increases and so does the stack of cards. The dealer will then deal new cards and the player with a better hand will be called.
A variation of stud poker is named Limit Hold'em. Limit Hold'em allows players to receive three cards face down for every number in a deck. After all cards have been dealt, this is how much money can be bet on or raised. If you want to place a bet, you must have at most thirteen of the twenty one cards. The minimum amount can't be lowered and the dealer will request a raise for any player who goes below the minimum.
A straight flush occurs when all cards are in the same pile, i.e., all five cards are in the same spot. A flush is also possible if you have four of the same cards. The pot is the same with a flush. A straight requires the player to bet the same amount as the high card plus three lower cards. The same rules apply to a five-card flush. However, the bet must now include the high card as well as two lower cards. This includes the Ace, King and Queen, Jack, Deuce, and the Deuce.
Some variations of hold'em might require you to bet right after the flop. Before betting begins, players must cover both flops by raising the dealer button. Once the flop is over, the dealer button disappears and is replaced by a symbol called "bye-card". This indicates that betting will stop after the dealer shows his cards. Once the flop has occurred, betting can continue. These sessions are known as riverings.
The river is the bet that the player makes. It is a straight bet. If his opponent's hand wins, and there are more cards than during the flop, then his hand wins. If a player places a bet and his opponent wins, he will take the pot.
